Building on a Legacy of Excellence

For over a century, Krumroy-Cozad Construction Corporation has been a cornerstone of the Northeast Ohio construction industry, evolving from a small custom home builder into a leading design/build construction management firm.

Our story began in 1913, when W.G. Krumroy founded the Krumroy Construction Company. In its early years, the company became known for designing and building some of the finest custom homes for Akron’s business leaders.

In 1956, leadership transitioned to W.G. Krumroy’s nephew, E.I. Clay. Under his direction, the company shifted its focus from residential construction to commercial projects, working with offices, businesses, and factories. Many of our original residential clients became long-term commercial customers—a testament to the trust and relationships we’ve built over generations.

By 1975, James G. Cozad, Jr. took the helm, continuing the company’s steady growth. Starting as a carpenter, he worked his way up through the ranks, leading the company into larger-scale commercial projects, including retail centers, churches, hospitals, and industrial facilities. His leadership cemented our reputation for delivering quality projects and fostering lasting client relationships.

In 2002, Daniel J. Cozad became the fourth owner, ushering in a new era of growth and innovation. To honor both our history and expansion, he renamed the company Krumroy-Cozad Construction Corporation, reflecting the family legacy and our broader capabilities. Under his leadership, we solidified our position as a full-service architectural design/build construction management firm, offering a seamless, in-house approach to planning, budgeting, development, purchasing, and construction.

In 2020, Duger Briggs and Joe Cozad became the fifth owners of Krumroy-Cozad Construction Corporation, carrying forward the company’s deep-rooted values of integrity, craftsmanship, and customer commitment. With their leadership, the company continues to evolve, embracing new technologies and modern construction methods while staying true to the core principles that have defined us for over a century.
